How Often Should I Get a Hearing Test?
How Do Hearing Tests Work?
Hearing tests fall into several categories. There are pure-tone hearing tests that will check whether you’re able to hear frequencies at different pitches. Speech tests ask clients to repeat words they hear through a headset. Then there are tests that measure air pressure in your middle ear, your brain frequencies when processing sounds, or emissions that your middle ear makes when exposed to sounds.
At Enhanced Hearing Center, we will likely evaluate your hearing using various tests, including:
Here’s what a typical appointment looks like at Enhanced Hearing Center
When you arrive: Our front office team will have you complete a brief intake form covering your medical history, lifestyle, and the specific situations where you struggle most with hearing — whether that’s conversations in restaurants, phone calls, or watching TV.
During the evaluation (about 60 minutes): You’ll sit in a sound-treated booth and listen to a series of tones and spoken words through headphones. The tests are completely painless. We’ll check both ears and assess how well you detect sound at different pitches and how clearly you understand speech.
